New Suzuki DF250 ‘KURO’ to make UK debut at BoatLife

Suzuki’s latest new outboard motor is set to be a real head-turner at the forthcoming BoatLife show at the NEC (16th – 19th February).

The new DF250 ‘KURO’ series comes in a unique and eye-catching matt black finish, which is reminiscent of the paint finishes and wraps used on super cars. And that gives a hint as to what this new outboard is designed for – performance!

The word ‘KURO’ means “deep black” in Japanese and thus represents the new paint finish and matching decals. In addition to the new look, the new DF250AUNX has a number of technical features that set it apart from a standard Suzuki DF250A.

Specification

Its 4-litre, 24 valve, V6 engine has been upgraded with new electronic mapping that increases the rev range from 5,700 rpm to 6,000 rpm. Match this with the new cowling that has re-worked air intake louvres to provide better air supply as well as cooling and you have got a power unit that revs and picks up speed quickly.

In addition, lower unit has also been re-designed in a similar way to those found on racing outboards, to improve cruising performance and prevent cavitation. The skeg also has a specially designed ‘left/right asymmetry’ with a curve in it to assist in low-speed manoeuvring. Finally, the upper clamp brackets have been improved with stiffer bushings to increase stability at speed.

The DF250AUNX, which will only be available for single installations, also benefits from all the usual Suzuki technologies such as Suzuki Precision Control, the drive-by-wire throttle system, auto-trim, keyless start and, of course, Lean Burn Fuel Control.

Launching at BoatLife

The new outboard will take pride of place on the Suzuki stand at BoatLife (E130) and will also be displayed on the transom of a Beneteau Antares as part of the Suzuki Fishing Team presence at the show on stand G61. This boat belongs to the McKell family who are members of the Suzuki Fishing Team and also ambassadors for the BoatLife show.

Mark Beeley, Head of ATV and Marine for Suzuki GB, said, “We are thrilled to be able to launch this new outboard to the UK at BoatLife. It certainly has a distinctive look and we are sure that it will prove to be popular among the UK powerboating community.
