Suzuki GB’s marine team recently carried out its annual beach clean activity as part of the company’s wider Clean Ocean Project – only this time the clean-up took didn’t take place on a beach but on a river!

 

Hosted and supported by Dealer, Marine Power, Suzuki visited the Norfolk Broads to clear rubbish from the banks and reeds of the River Yare.

 

The event was attended by a group of 20 people, from Suzuki’s marine, ATV, motorcycle and aftersales teams, as well as colleagues from Marine Power and the local Suzuki car dealership, the Desira Group.

 

After just a few hours scouring the river banks using Smartwave and Linder boats as well as searching the pathways on foot, over 20 bags full of waste and discarded rubbish was collected which included everything from bottles and food wrappers to plastic chairs and buckets.

 

Recyclable bags were used to collect the smaller items and everything that was removed from the river and its banks was disposed of responsibly and for local recycling wherever possible by Marine Power.

 

The River Yare is located in an extremely popular area of outstanding natural beauty and in order to maximise efforts for collecting waste, Suzuki not only worked in partnership with local Dealer, Marine Power, but also in consultation with the Broads Authority and the local Rangers.

 

As the world’s ultimate outboard motor brand, Suzuki always remains focused on providing the ultimate marine experience, which requires a healthy and clean marine environment. Since 2010, Suzuki has been voluntarily conducting a ‘Clean-Up the World Campaign’ globally every year to contribute to a better marine environment. This is all part of the Suzuki Clean Ocean Project, which also encompasses reducing the use of plastic packaging as well as technical innovations such as Suzuki’s world-first micro-plastics collection device for outboard motors.
